At Flexi-Tile, we pride ourselves on offering a flooring solution that’s not only durable and stylish but incredibly easy to install. Whether you’re revamping a garage, warehouse, gym, or workshop, our interlocking PVC tiles are designed for quick installation with minimal disruption — no adhesives, specialist tools, or professional help required.
In this post, we’ll walk you through the simple steps to install Flexi-Tile flooring yourself.
What You’ll Need:
Before you get started, gather the following tools:
- Rubber mallet
- Utility knife (with a sharp blade)
- Tape measure
- Straight edge or steel ruler
- Chalk line (optional, for large areas)
Step 1: Prepare Your Floor
Flexi-Tile can be laid over most existing floor surfaces, including concrete, wood, and tiles. However, the floor should be:
- Dry
- Relatively level
- Free of dust and loose debris
Use a broom or vacuum to clean the area thoroughly. If your subfloor has large cracks or uneven spots, consider filling them in to ensure a smoother installation.
Step 2: Plan Your Layout
To achieve the best finish, we recommend starting from the centre of the room and working outwards. Use a chalk line or tape measure to find the centre point and establish a straight guideline. This helps ensure that your tiles align neatly, especially in high-visibility areas.
Step 3: Start Installing the Tiles
Begin laying the tiles along your centre guideline. Each tile is designed with an interlocking edge that clicks easily into place — simply line up the connectors and tap gently with a rubber mallet.
Work your way outward in rows. The tiles can be rotated and fitted in any direction, but maintaining a consistent pattern throughout helps with aesthetics and fit.
Step 4: Cutting Tiles to Fit Edges
Once the main floor area is covered, you’ll need to trim tiles to fit around walls, corners, or fixed obstacles. Measure the space, mark your tile with a pencil, and use a utility knife with a straight edge to cut. (Tip: Warming the tile slightly makes cutting easier.)
Step 5: Leave Room for Expansion
PVC tiles can expand slightly with temperature changes. Leave a 5–10mm expansion gap around the room’s perimeter and any fixed objects like pillars or machinery.
Step 6: Enjoy Your New Floor
That’s it! No adhesives, no drying time, and no specialist installers required. Your Flexi-Tile floor is ready to handle whatever you throw at it — from forklifts and vehicles to foot traffic and machinery.
