ESD Flooring
Electrostatic Dissipative Flooring for Static-Sensitive Environments
Flexi-Tile ESD flooring is a premium electrostatic dissipative flooring system made from durable PVC interlocking tiles, designed specifically for areas where electrostatic discharge (ESD) poses a risk to electronic equipment or processes.
Ideal for electronics manufacturing, laboratories, server rooms, and computer suites, our anti static flooring helps create a safe, static-controlled environment that protects both staff and sensitive devices.
Each ESD tile is manufactured using high-quality PVC and embedded with stainless steel microfibres that channel static electricity through a conductive subfloor grid, safely discharging it via designated earth points. This robust interlocking system ensures full compliance with BS EN 61340-5-1-2010 standards for EPA (Electrostatic Protected Area) zones.
When paired with the Flexi-Tile ESD grounding kit—including grounding strips, plugs, and connectors—this solution becomes a fully integrated, EPA-certified ESD flooring system that’s quick to install, easy to maintain, and engineered for long-term performance.

ESD Flooring Installation Guide
- Lay the grounding strips in a grid formation (1m horizontal x 0.5m vertical). Ensure strips contact each tile for conductivity.
- Secure strip ends with double-sided tape to prevent movement during install.
- Start tile layout from the room’s centre in a four-tile square formation—ensure interlocks connect with the strip grid.
- Continue outward, maintaining consistent contact between interlocks and grounding strips.
- Install 1 x grounding tile (from our ESD grounding set) every 80–100m² or per individual room.
- Connect the plug to a suitable wall socket and the connector to the grounding tile to complete the system.
- Always consult a qualified electrician for appropriate power connection.
Frequently Asked Questions – ESD Flooring
What is ESD flooring and why is it important?
- ESD flooring (Electrostatic Discharge flooring) is designed to safely discharge static electricity from people and equipment to prevent damage to sensitive electronic components. It’s critical in environments like electronics manufacturing, labs, and server rooms where static can cause equipment failure or data loss.
How does ESD flooring work?
- Our ESD tiles are embedded with stainless steel microfibres that conduct static electricity through a conductive subfloor grid, which is then safely discharged via earth points. When installed with the Flexi-Tile grounding kit, this creates a fully compliant electrostatic dissipative flooring system.
Is ESD flooring the same as anti-static flooring?
- Not exactly. While both terms are related, anti static flooring only reduces static buildup, whereas ESD flooring actively conducts static electricity away from personnel and equipment. Flexi-Tile ESD provides true electrostatic discharge protection as defined under BS EN 61340-5-1-2010 standards.
Can Flexi-Tile ESD flooring be installed over uneven or existing floors?
- Yes. Our PVC interlocking ESD tiles can be installed directly over most surfaces, including uneven or cracked concrete, without adhesives. The interlocking design allows for quick, secure installation with minimal surface preparation.
Where is ESD flooring typically used?
ESD interlocking floor tiles are commonly used in:
- Electronics manufacturing and assembly lines
- Computer and server rooms
- Laboratories and cleanrooms
- Medical equipment rooms
- Aerospace and automotive testing environments
How do I maintain ESD flooring?
- Flexi-Tile ESD flooring is low maintenance. Regular sweeping, vacuuming, or mopping with a neutral pH cleaner will keep the floor clean without compromising its conductive properties. Avoid waxes or coatings unless they are ESD-compatible.
What is the lifespan of Flexi-Tile ESD flooring?
- Our anti static PVC tiles come with a 10-year warranty and typically last 20+ years, even in demanding industrial and technical environments.
Does Flexi-Tile provide a complete ESD flooring solution?
- Yes. We offer a full ESD flooring system, including interlocking ESD tiles, grounding kits, ramps, corners, and expert installation guidance to ensure full compliance with EPA regulations. Please note we do not offer installation.
